Building capability in coastal resilience through expert-led training and applied field learning.
The Coastal Resilience Short Course is a professional development program focused on coastal hazard management and climate adaptation, designed for practitioners across government, consultancy, and academia. Since 2013, the course is delivered in partnership with academia and industry partners including Griffith University, JB Pacific, Alluvium Consulting, Bluecoast Consulting, and ICM Consulting, with support from state government agencies and local councils.
The program features contributions from a range of leading experts and coastal professionals.
Since its inception the course has trained over 600 participants from all Australian states and territories, as well as New Zealand and the Pacific. International editions have been delivered in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Chile.
The Coastal Resilience Short Course is offered in both in-person and online formats. In-person participation is encouraged for access to fieldwork, peer discussion, applied exercises and interactive components.
Covers: coastal processes, coastal hazards, coastal risk management, climate adaptation, planning and policy frameworks, community engagement, nature-based solutions, applied case studies and field-based learning.
